BCRR September Executive Board Meeting

Attendees: Johnny King-Marino, Rich Kanak, Maggie Kanak, Rob Hoy,

  1. Accept Minutes from last meeting as posted by Kathy

A motion to approve minutes from the last Executive Board Meeting dated August 11, 2016 was made by Johnny and seconded by Rich. Minutes were approved 5-0.

 

  1. Treasurer’s Report
    1. Financial Report

Rob reported the total in all accounts. Recent expenditures totaling more than $10,000 were discussed including the Break-Fast 5K proceeds of $7619.72, which were donated to the Mercer Museum.

  1. Tax filing/accountant update

Rob reported that BCRR received a letter from the IRS granting the tax filing extension requested by Kathi Atkinson. The extension gives the club until November 15, 2016 to file the 2015 return.

 

  1. Old Business
    1. CPR class update
      1. What do we need to make an announcement?

Maggie reported that she received 27 positive responses when she surveyed the club about interest in a CPR class to be held on December 3rd.

  1. A way to register and pay?

RunSignUp can be setup for members to signup for the CPR class.

  1. Melissa is ok with charging $15, she’s not sure yet if the grant will cover the $7 CPR card

The cost of the CPR class will be $15 plus the RunSignUp fee.

 

  1. Tailgate Committee Update

Johnny and Kathy discussed three upcoming races for club tailgates:

  1. Trenton Half Marathon (Trenton, NJ), Saturday, October 29, start time 8 am
  2. Cooper Norcross Run the Bridge (Camden, NJ), Sunday, November 6, start time 8:30 am
  3. Delaware Canal Half Marathon (Washington Crossing, PA), Saturday, November 12, start time 10 am

At each event, runners would have the opportunity to signup for the club, purchase singlets, take brochures, and talk to club members.

 

The board discussed having the Winter Series SignUp Pancake Event at ASC Washington Crossing Office on December 3rd. The morning events will include:

8 am informal run on the canal towpath

9-10:30 am Winter Series signup and pancake breakfast at ASC

11 am CPR class at Tyler State Park

 

Johnny made a motion to approve organizing the three tailgate events and the Winter Series SignUp Pancake Event and Kathy seconded the motion. The motion was approved 5-0.

 

  1. Apparel
    1. Singlets are decided on

Members will have 3 choices when they sign up for the winter series and membership.

  1. Should we order some to have on hand?

Johnny recommended ordering 100 singlets upfront to sell at socials or group runs like the McTuesday Run.

  • Johnny working with Chris at Athletic Shoe Shop on carrying shorts.

Johnny is working with Chris to carry black Adidas shorts.

  1. Other Apparel?

Jason is working on a short sleeve option and a long sleeve option.

  1. Club Inventory: Should we order more long sleeve tech shirts? Any other thoughts?

Mens Singlets (4 M, 1 L), Ladies Singlets (5 L), Long Sleeve Tech Shirts, Mens (17 XL), Long Sleeve Tech Shirts, Womens (25 L, 1 XL)

Johnny will post a request for an apparel person.

 

  1. Track for next year

The board is working on options for track workouts for next year.

 

  1. George School: have we paid them yet

Rob reported that the George School has been paid.

 

  1. Club Membership Cards
    1. Kathy any information?

Kathy reported that an electronic club membership card is available through RunSignUp. Kathy will contact RunSignUp to obtain further details on how to customize the card.

 

  1. Recognition of Member Contribution

The board discussed acknowledging contributions of various club members at some of the Winter Series races.

 

  1. Reports of Officers
    1. Winter Series Director
      1. Winter Series business

None discussed

  1. Web Site Update

Mike sent an email with updates on the website.

 

  1. Communications Director
    1. Yoga for runners: Fall

Maggie will send out a blurb about Yoga for Runners to see if there is enough interest.

  1. Other

Maggie asked Renee to be a “welcomer” at the Winter Series races. Maggie will send a draft of her welcome letter to the board for review.

 

  1. Vice President
    1. Thanksgiving Day Race:
      1. Rich reported on the Thanksgiving Committee Meeting.
      2. New expo manager, sponsorship sales coordinator and social media director in place.
      3. Membership will be given incentive to sell sponsorship/expo space.

 

  1. President
    1. Bylaws

Rich has a copy of the club bylaws. They need to be revised.

  1. Presidents Blog

Johnny is working on his blog and it will be posted soon.

 

  1. New Business
    1. Track workouts to end November 2nd, 2016

The November 2nd end date for the George School track workouts was confirmed.

 

Next Social will be Thursday, October 20 at 7 pm at Tre Fratelli in Langhorne.
