Now that I’ve gotten in my miles on the treadmill with my own Polar Boring run….and a cold shower (hot water heater out, are you serious?), I can send a little more information.
Anyone who tried to go outside this morning quickly realized that the rain came before the warmth and the surfaces were sheets of ice. I went out about 6a and all was fine. By 7:15, when Matt Conard called to say he couldn’t get to the park, my street was an ice rink. Although we always do our best to have the race, it is the winter series afterall, there are times that it is just not safe to get our team out to the park to set up, let alone have people running. If possible, we do try to at least have an informal, but with both of our race directors stuck on opposite sides of the park, all of the bridges closed, multiple accidents along the roads, it just wasn’t worth the risk. We are all disappointed – not only because we can’t run and race together today, but man, was that chili sounding good.
At this time, we do not have any plans to reschedule the race. Because of the way the calendar fell this year, we are already running pretty late into February. So, for the purposes of scoring, we will count 8 races instead of 9. For those of you scheduled to volunteer today, you will still get your credit, however, if you are so moved, you are welcome to volunteer at another race.

Thanks everyone for your understanding. Be safe. Stay dry. Next up…Honest Abe….
