Tomorrow is our Cham-Pain 5K. This race has historically had our largest fields. It is a short race and our least challenging race. Janet has already informed the runners that we are starting at 11:00 and this will be a two wave race.
It is imperative for you to follow the the Winter Series instructions.
1) Carpool: Please park at Council Rock North (if you don’t know where that is, ASK!) and drive to the Boathouse parking lot with a full vehicle. We are reserving the Boathouse lot for volunteers, car poolers and the general public. Our huge presence in the Park has resulted in complaints to the Park Manager. The more that we can reduce our “footprint”, the better.
2) Running on the outside road: Although we are only crossing the road tomorrow, this is another opportunity to talk about the outside road. Please run single file on the outside road unless you are passing another runner. In my view, the ladies were not following these instructions last week and a number of the men were passing you on the grass on your left. I prefer to run the races, not nag runners.
3) Announcements: We try to keep our pre-race announcements to a minimum. It’s cold and you’re anxious to run. Please be courteous and quiet while we are speaking. There is a lot of important information that is being communicated. Please check the yahoo group and Facebook posts on a regular basis.
Here is a another reminder about the Caesar Rodney 1/2 Marathon. You are going to miss everyone after the Winter Series. This is a terrific and challenging race that you will be so ready to run. We form teams and the BCRR has come home with team medals every year. I would really like to have an open (under 40) this year. The registration will increase tomorrow. It is $ 60 plus fees. Please let me know when you have registered so I can put teams together (freddyjay55@yahoo.com). We carpool to Wilmington.
The Wilmington Y is open to all runners. Bring a lock, towel and change of clothes and hang out at local establishments afterwards!! Really a fun day.Have a happy new year and be safe!
Gotta run!
